Unlocking Partnership Potential: Connecting Morocco and Germany for a Green Economy

Morocco is increasingly positioning itself as an industrial and energy hub between Europe and Africa and is strongly integrated into European value chains, particularly in the automotive and energy sectors.

Recent analysis by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, in cooperation with the Moroccan Ministry of Investment, Convergence and Evaluation of Public Policies (MICEPP), highlights significant potential for deeper collaboration along German–Moroccan industrial value chains. Additional momentum is provided by the strategic partnership between the German state of Lower Saxony and the Moroccan region of Tangier–Tétouan–Al Hoceïma, which aims to strengthen economic cooperation, investment, skilled labour mobility, and vocational training.

Against this background, a Moroccan delegation is visiting the German state of Lower Saxony as part of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in January 2025 between the Moroccan region of Tangier–Tétouan–Al Hoceïma and the Lower Saxony Ministries for Economic Affairs, Transport and Construction, and for Social Affairs, Labour, Health and Equality. Both regions are actively developing their industrial ecosystems around renewable energy. There is significant potential for economic cooperation, vocational training, and skilled labour mobility.

In this context, the side event “Unlocking Partnership Potential: Connecting Morocco and Germany for a Green Economy” will take place on 23 April 2026 at the Deutsche Messe Technology Academy (Pavilion 36) during HANNOVER MESSE.

The side event will bring together Moroccan and German stakeholders to explore how both countries can further strengthen partnership-based collaboration with the private sector at the intersection of investment, skills development, industrial cooperation in green future sectors, and sustainable development.

Stakeholders interested in German–Moroccan cooperation in green industries are warmly invited to attend and contribute to the discussion.
