The Smart Industry Academy is located in the Chi-Lin Innovation Park (CLIP), a new, fully integrated science and technology community for R&D and business. The Park is part of the Yangtze River Delta Economic Zone including important economic hubs like the cities of Shanghai, Suzhou and Hangzhou, which account for 20 percent of China’s Gross Domestic Product and take the responsibility for a third of its imports and exports. Operator of the Smart Industry Academy is the Nanjing Robot Research Institute (NRRI), founded in January 2015 in collaboration with the Nanjing Chilin High-tech Industrial Development Zone, Nanjing University of Science & Technology, PHOENIX CONTACT, Jiangsu JINGXIN Intelligent Manufacturing Research Institute, and other units, Nanjing Robot Research Institute aims to become a leader in the robot industry by developing key robot technologies and building an innovation platform that integrates scientific research, talent agglomeration and cultivation, public technology services, and product incubation and industrialization.
The Smart Industry Academy’s approach, together with the network from Germany and the partners in the industrial metropolises on site, is to advance knowledge transfer across many areas of state-of-the-art production technology.
